About jvpilar

Here's a little info about your teacher. I worked really hard to become your teacher. I went to UIC to get a degree in English, but decided to work as a writer in California. While I was there I realized I would rather work with kids than work in an office all day, so I decided to come back to Chicago and become a licensed, fully certified teacher. I earned a Masters Degree in Teaching and Education from Dominican University and got my first job at Hancock. During my 4 years at Hancock, I have taught English at every grade level. I started the Culinary Club and also sponsor BuildOn, both clubs do community service projects all over the city. I also have a cat named Duke that I rescued during one of our BuildOn service learning projects and a dog named Duchess.

The two videos show the differences between the rich and the poor post civil war and into the Great Depression because in the first video everyone was all rich and fancy and went to party’s dressed well and the were rich since they had big houses and maids but at the end of that video I think the girl became poor but I’m not sure also in the second one the people didn’t have fancy cloths they wore like overalls and they weren’t like clean also they lived on a farm I believe but later on the moved and had to stay in these like shack houses that were like open idk but like those were the biggest differences from the rich and the poor in my opinion.

in the first video, they are obviously rich and wealthy, then The Civil War, and at the end, Scarlett says “As god is my witness, I shall not be hungry”. And that meant that during The Great Depression, citizens were very hungry and were very short on food. And in the second video, I think they were already in The Great Depression and were threatening to shoot others.

  3. The rich and poor are affected by the great depression but the poor are dramaticly effected because they are making money off there crops and also, there everyday food source is coming from the crops. The rich get effected because they had the crops and also workers to pay.

  6. Well the rich and the poor are effected differently because the poor have had all there plans made and all there life depending on there crops because they want to sell them and also, that is there food they would have for dinner. The rich are effected differently because they will just have low number of products being produced from there plantations and they will need ti fire some of there workers because he is not making any profit from his crops. Overall, the rich and the poor have drastic differences in being effected with the great depression.

This 2 videos show how it was in the south because it shows how some people where alright since many didn’t keep their money in the bank but those who did struggled to keep up with expenses so the went bank robbed leaving them to become poor.

In the “Gone with the wind” video it’s demanstrating the way the rich lived in the south during the great depression. The rich wore different clothing than the poor. They wore elegant gowns and suits and lived in large houses or ‘mansions’, The poor though around the great depression lived in open fields it seems and theyre houses werent very big. They also wore clothes that werent as nice as the rich. It looks like they were just woring overalls and jeans
