Week 2- Thursday Musings!

Good afternoon! Hope you are having a productive week!  We have covered many ideas this week.  You have gotten a taste of how I like to give NOTES and shown me how responsible you can be. I am very pleased, so let’s keep up the good work!  Here’s tonight’s homework.  Please come to class prepared!

HOMEWORK CHART

English I Honors English II
1)      Period 2- NO HOMEWORK, but please bring Your Independent Reading Book to class tomorrow!!!

2)      Period 3 and 6- Complete the “Juvenile Justice” WREN packet if you haven’t done so already.

3)      Periods 3 and 6 PLEASE MEET in the LIBRARY for class tomorrow!  Go up the stairs in the FIRST Floor ANNEX. Turn Right and you will be in front of the Library! Go in and please have a seat.  See you there!

1)      Finish reading Sherman Alexie Biography

2)      Complete the last boxes on the “Predictor Sheet”

3)      On the back of your “Predictor Sheet,” answer the following questions:

  • What was the result of your predictions? Were you wrong or right?  How so?
  • What shocked/ surprised you during the reading?
  • What did you find controversial?

Here's a little info about your teacher. I worked really hard to become your teacher. I went to UIC to get a degree in English, but decided to work as a writer in California. While I was there I realized I would rather work with kids than work in an office all day, so I decided to come back to Chicago and become a licensed, fully certified teacher. I earned a Masters Degree in Teaching and Education from Dominican University and got my first job at Hancock. During my 4 years at Hancock, I have taught English at every grade level. I started the Culinary Club and also sponsor BuildOn, both clubs do community service projects all over the city. I also have a cat named Duke that I rescued during one of our BuildOn service learning projects and a dog named Duchess.
